On the evening of February 4th, the 2019 Central Radio and Television General Station Spring Festival Gala (hereinafter referred to as “CCTV Spring Festival Evening”) was staged. On the stage of the Shenzhen branch, Professor Xu Wenfu from the School of Mechanical Engineering and Automation of Harbin Institute of Technology (Shenzhen) and his large-scale bionic flapping wing robot made a stunning appearance in the form of a phoenix. The “Phoenix” symbolizes the harmony of auspiciousness and the bionics of the people’s better life. The Phoenix robot flew over the sky with a graceful gesture, adding a touch of Harbin University (Shenzhen) color to the Spring Festival Evening of the Year of the Pig. “Friends walk together for a lifetime, no longer those days,” with the familiar melody, the “Phoenix” independently developed by Harbin Institute of Technology (Shenzhen) teachers and students flew over the night sky, fluttering wings, flying phoenix tail, realistic shape Colorful colors… The bionic phoenix surrounds the stage, and it’s amazing. In addition to the amazing “face value”, the “internal power” of this bionic flapping wing robot is also very powerful. It can accompany the music, and sometimes fly side by side, sometimes changing the formation, completing the difficult movements such as spreading wings, swinging, climbing, etc. Elegant gestures in the Shenzhen night sky staged the “Phoenix to the instrument” scene. Professor Xu Wenfu introduced: “The ‘Phoenix’ which appeared on the stage of the Spring Festival Evening is the largest bionic flapping wing flying robot with the largest wingspan, the longest flight time and the strongest load capacity. The flapping wing aircraft simulates the flight mode of large birds. Relying on fluttering wings to achieve flight is a fusion of innovations in a variety of disciplines including aerodynamics, flight mechanics, bionics, materials science, electrical and control theory.” As the only high-tech group in the CCTV Spring Festival Evening Shenzhen branch The “Phoenix” developed by a team of Shenzhen universities and professors, Xu Wenfu, left a deep impression on the audience. The excitement in front of the stage is the result of the joint efforts of many people at the stage. According to Pang Erzhen, a Ph.D. student of mechanical engineering at Harbin Institute of Technology (Shenzhen), majoring in technology, the “Phoenix Yingchun” has achieved great success and hundreds of people behind the scenes. The hard work of teachers and students is inseparable. After more than a month of careful preparation, the teachers and students overcome difficulties and personally assemble the “Phoenix”, train and control the flying hand, and rehearse through the night… Finally, The “Phoenix” flapping wing machine flew smoothly on the stage of the Spring Festival Evening.
